The Nile Delta
The Nile Delta was very important in the ancient Egyptian days because of the entry for the ships between Egypt, Southern Europe and other countries around the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile Delta is located where the Nile River joins to the Mediterranean Sea.
The Nile
During the ancient times the Nile was very import and useful for the Egyptians. If the Egyptians did not have the Nile it would have been very hard for them to survive. Every year over June and October the Nile flooded. This was extremely helpful for the Egyptians to get their supply of water, so they could drink and water their crops. The Nile River was also the main place for the transport in Ancient Egypt. Firstly boats made of papyrus and later made of wood. These boats were used to transport people and goods along the river.
Giza
Giza is very famous for the great pyramids. There are 4 major pyramids in Giza and they are Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure and the enormous Sphinx. Sphinx is carved from limestone and is still the largest single stone statue in the world. Sphinx has a head on it, which represents half human and half lion. It was but like this as it is a guardian for the other pyramids. Sphinx is the heights of 20m tall.
Rosetta
Rosetta was one of the most important historical finds in ancient Egypt because of the Rosetta stone. On the Rosetta stone there were three different types of writings that were carved into it. There were Greek, Egyptian Hieroglyphs and a cursive form of Hieroglyphs.
Alexandria
Alexandria is the capital city of the Ptolemaic period. The city Alexandria was named after Alexander the Great. It was named after Alexander because he was the person that found the city Alexandria around 334BCE. Alexandria the city was found like many other big cities on the Nile Delta.
Saqqara
Saqqara is a very famous area to the south of Memphis. Memphis was the captain of Ancient Egypt during the old kingdom. Memphis was found by a group of men. In Saqqara there are still seventeen pyramids standing, including the famous Step Pyramid. The Step Pyramid is one of the oldest Egyptian pyramids.
